Church Communities International is a movement of Christian Church Communities originating in Germany in 1920. Driven to England by Nazi persecution in 1937, Church Community members migrated to Paraguay in 1942 with the help of the Mennonite Church. In 1954 the first Church Community in the United States was founded in Rifton New York, where it continues to flourish. Today, a dozen Church Communities are located in New York and Pennsylvania as well as others in Australia, England, Germany and Thailand. Within each Church Community, residents practice their faith in the manner and spirit of the first-century Christians and the Reformation of the early 1500's, sharing everything in common and caring for each other and their neighbors. Members are baptized as adults on confession of the Apostolic Creed, making a voluntary lifetime commitment to living out the teachings of Jesus.
