This body has its origins in Europe in 1525 as an outgrowth of the Anabaptist movement. It was organized in North America in 1898 (See Mennonite Church description in the section "Religious Bodies in the United Stated"). After mergers of Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church U.S.A. (both bi-national bodies) they have separated based on country lines -- Mennonite Church Canada & Mennonite Church USA. Mennonite Church (Canada) no longer exists as such.
