The Orthodox Anglican church was incorporated in 1964 to provide a religious body faithful to historic Anglican doctrine and practice as dogmatically set forth in the Book of Common Prayer (1928 US and 1662 English editions), the Ordinal of the Church of England, AD 1662 , and the Articles of Religion set forth in AD 1562. The Church thus affirms the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures and confesses the three ancient creeds of the Universal Church (the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds). Clergy are trained at St. Andrew's Theological College and Seminary, which the Church established in 1971. The Church is a member of the Orthodox Anglican Communion, founded in 1967. The Orthodox Anglican Communion is a fellowship of churches around the world that adhere to historic Anglican faith and order. With more than a million lay members, the Communion is the largest such fellowship of Churches not affiliated with the See of Canterbury. The Presiding Bishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church serves as the Primate of the international Communion.
